Botox Q & A

How does Botox work?

Botox is a popular aesthetic treatment that uses a refined toxin called Clostridium botulinum. When injected in small amounts, Botox weakens or freezes certain muscles. As a result, wrinkles appear smoother and less noticeable.

What does Botox treat?

Botox is a safe, FDA-approved treatment to minimize the appearance of:

  • Moderate-to-severe crow’s feet
  • Moderate-to-severe forehead lines
  • Moderate-to-severe frown lines

Botox treatments aren’t permanent, so you’ll need repeat treatments at Elite Aesthetics to continue to see results.

Is Botox right for me?

Erin reviews your medical history to make sure Botox is right for you. You’ll want to tell her about any prescription and over-the-counter medicines you’re taking, including vitamins and herbal supplements.

You aren’t suitable for Botox if you are:

  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding
  • Allergic to certain ingredients

You also shouldn’t have Botox if you have certain muscle or nerve conditions.

What happens during a Botox treatment?

Erin first discusses your treatment goals. She analyzes your face to determine the appropriate treatment areas. Once your treatments areas are selected, your Botox injections usually take only 10 minutes.

Does Botox hurt?

Erin numbs or cools your injection sites beforehand to minimize any discomfort. You may feel a pinch when the needle briefly enters your skin. The injections are over quickly.

What happens after Botox treatment?

Botox requires no downtime, so you can resume your usual routine after your appointment. Within 24-48 hours, you may see a gradual smoothing and softening of visible lines and wrinkles. Your face may appear more youthful and refreshed.

Your results typically last up to four months for moderate-to-severe frown lines, although results vary. Because Botox isn’t a permanent treatment, you can expect your crow's feet, frown lines, or forehead wrinkles to gradually return unless you regularly update your Botox injections.

If you’re ready to minimize the signs of aging with a quick, nonsurgical treatment, call Elite Aesthetics today, or book a consultation online to see if Botox is right for you.
